‘We have many different courses for many different abilities. Our standard course format is 12 x 50 minute lessons with a maximum class of 4 pupils however to accommodate more abilities and allow a faster pace of learning we have introduced 40 minute lessons (max 3 pupils) and 30 minute lessons (max 2 pupils). This allows more flexibility for the tutor so pupils can progress at a better pace. It also means we can keep the fee to £15 per lesson. Please call to check availability as some classes are full. We will be as accommodating as possible when it comes to finding the right class for your ability and therefore it can sometimes take a few lessons to assess the most suitable class.’

Sutton Music has a wide range of existing classes at different levels. Where spaces are available a students level can be assessed and placed in a class. Please enquire about timings and availablilty.
We offer the opportunity to enter an exam when the tutor and pupil feel they are ready. For guitar, drums and bass we follow the Trinity Rock & Pop syllabus which consists of cover songs played to a backing CD. Along with technical challenges it
also provides a graded repertoire of songs. It typically takes 2 terms to prepare for an exam grade. Exam entry is optional and is not required to move on to the next course. There is an additional fee that pupils can pay directly to the exam board.
The exams are held at Sutton Music Centre during 3 exam periods each year.
We are also able to prepare and enter pupils for the ABRSM piano exams. These provide stepping stones to progress but we encourage on a strong foundation before entering Grade 1.
All lessons are taught on site in our purpose built teaching studios. Digital pianos and drums are provided along with music stands, headphones and amps. We have a few guitars available to use during lessons but it is advised to learn with your own instrument.
