It’s been proved that singing is good for you! Why not come along to our Rock & Pop choir on Wednesday evenings and find out how much better it makes you feel!

We get a fun group of enthusiastic people together on Wednesday evenings to sing contemporary songs and rock & pop classics in a relaxed environment. The choir has recently sung arrangements of Happy (Pharrell Williams), Yo Hey (Lumineers), Somewhere only we know as well as a classic Motown medley and Beatles favourites.

There is no audition and no pressure to commit to competitions, it’s just for fun. Steve Clark who leads the choir is a very experienced musical director who has been in involved in many West End and touring shows. It is an adult choir so anyone over the age of 15 is welcome.

It costs just £7.50 each session to join in. 8pm to 9.15pm.

Sutton Music has a wide range of existing classes at different levels.  Where spaces are available a students level can be assessed and placed in a class. Please enquire about timings and availablilty.
Music exams
We offer the opportunity to enter an exam when the tutor and pupil feel they are ready. For guitar, drums and bass we follow the Trinity Rock & Pop syllabus which consists of cover songs played to a backing CD. Along with technical challenges it
also provides a graded repertoire of songs. It typically takes 2 terms to prepare for an exam grade. Exam entry is optional and is not required to move on to the next course. There is an additional fee that pupils can pay directly to the exam board.
The exams are held at Sutton Music Centre during 3 exam periods each year.
We are also able to prepare and enter pupils for the ABRSM piano exams. These provide stepping stones to progress but we encourage on a strong foundation before entering Grade 1.
Facilities
All lessons are taught on site in our purpose built teaching studios. Digital pianos and drums are provided along with music stands, headphones and amps. We have a few guitars available to use during lessons but it is advised to learn with your own instrument.
