Welcome to Sutton Music

Sutton Music Centre is your hub for making music! We have a large showroom where our friendly and expert staff can advise on a great selection of instruments including a full range of acoustic and electric guitars, basses and drums. Digital pianos and keyboards are also on display to try out and get guidance on their features.

You’re welcome to browse through our large sheet music department which includes exam syllabus, tutor books, popular albums, theory papers, musicals selections, play along books and much more. Again we’re on hand to help you find the book you need or offer some advice on suitable material for your level of playing.

Sutton Music has three dedicated teaching studios where we offer group lessons in a fun & inspiring environment. Our team of dedicated tutors have a wealth of experience and will help you to realise your musical goals. We have many different courses for many different abilities. Our standard lesson format is 50 minutes with a maximum class of 8 pupils. However, to accommodate more abilities and allow a faster pace of learning, we've introduced 40 minute lessons (max 4 pupils) and 30 minute lessons (max 2 pupils). This allows more flexibility for the tutor so that pupils can progress at a better pace.

It also means we can keep the lesson as low as £13 per lesson. Please call to check availability as some classes are full. We are always as accommodating as possible when it comes to finding the right class for your ability and therefore it can sometimes take a few lessons to assess the most suitable class.

A Brief History of Sutton Music Centre

How everything started:
John and Pauline Allis took on Sutton Music in the 1980s having already established a music shop in Tadworth. Following the success of these shops they expanded the business with another branch in Banstead. Sutton and Banstead Music then continued as general music shops while the Tadworth branch became a piano specialist showroom.

How we developed:
After some years with 3 branches, John and Pauline decided to focus their efforts on the Sutton and Banstead shops. The two stores built a strong reputation for excellent service and friendly advice. Being a family business Louise Allis and Mark Allis have always been involved in the business. In 2009 Mark took on the move to merge both shops into our current location and create a greater choice of products along with many more facilities. He has developed our music courses, live events, Rock and Pop choir and recording studio to create a local hub for making music.

Who are we today?
It is important for us never to lose sight of why people keep us in business. Our service and genuine interest in what a customer needs is the number one priority. Buying a musical instrument is a very personal and hopefully enjoyable experience. Being confident in the service and backup you receive is very important. We always hope to provide this confidence along with the expertise to help you make the right selection.
